First Diagnosis
July 1959
Diagnosis: Carcinoma of the Cervix Stage III.

Histology: Adenocarcinoma. Pathological Institute of Braunschweig Comm. Hospital.
Standard/ Conventional Treatment

August 1959
Treatment: Removal of the tumor by surgery attempted but discontinued due to its large spread.

September 1959
Radium Implants and Radiation Therapy. Partial remission.

October 1959
Progression of Tumor growth.

No further standard treatment possible. Patient considered incurable.

Issels Treatment

October 1959 to January 1960
Issels Treatment: 11 weeks of in-patient treatment at the Issels Hospital with 6 months out-patient follow-up treatment.

Mid-1961
Complete Remission.

Follow-up until 1971
10 years cancer free without any recurrence, patient leading a healthy normal life.
