Diagnosis: Inoperable Carcinoma of the Cervix Stage III.
Histology: Non-Keratinized Squamous Cell Carcinoma, Pathological Institute, University of Muenster, Prof. Giese and Prof. Hoerstenbrock. Treatment: Radium Implant and Radiation Therapy. Remission.
Standard/ Conventional Treatment
February 1955
Recurrence. Radiation exhausted.
Patient considered incurable.
February to May 1955
Issels Treatment: 16 weeks in-patient at the Issels hospital followed by 6 month out-patient treatment.
February 1955
Independ. admission diagnosis: Right parametrium hard and unevenly infiltrated. Douglas-tumor of the size of a fist adherent with cervix and rectum.
May 1955
Independent Discharge diagnosis: Fist-size Douglas-tumor has shrunk to the size of an egg.
April 1956
Issels Treatment: 4 weeks in-patient treatment followed by 6 months out-patient treatment.
Independent Discharge diagnosis: Remission of Douglas-tumor.
March 1957
Recurrence of Douglas-tumor. 4 weeks in-patient Issels Treatment followed by 8 months out-patient treatment.
Mid-1959
Complete Remission. No further recurrence.
Follow-up until 1971
12 years cancer free without any further recurrence, patient leading a normal healthy life.
